Redux (or Career Status Bonus) military retirement plan is available to those individuals that joined the US Army after August 1, 1986. This plan is interesting, because this plan offers career status bonus ($30,000), but in exchange decreased pension. Individuals who joined the army after August 1, 1986 have a choice. They can choose either High 3 Year Average or Redux (Career Status Bonus). Military personnel can make calculations with military retirement calculator and make an informed choice.
Military retirement plans differ by the ways pension is adjusted towards inflation. For Final Pay and High 3 Year Average military plans the pension is adjusted by Consumer Price Index (CPI), while Redux pension is adjusted by CPI-1.
